Fatburger Edmonton, AB - hit and miss burgers at this last stand

While running errands in the south end of the city, my boyfriend had a craving for BURGER!, so we headed to Fatburger - an chain we dropped by when they first opened, and we hoped they had worked out some of the kinks since then. Unfortunately, they were still a bit hit and miss.

One of the selling points at Fatburger, is many of the toppings are free and you can load up your burger to your hearts content with veges: onions, grilled onions, japalenos, peppers, tomatos, lettuce and condiments like the standard ketchup, mustard, relish and mayo. Grilled mushrooms, sunny side up egg, bacon, chili and guacamole is extra. So we placed our orders and sat down to wait in the dining area - with the stereotypical fast food decor spruced up...

Too bad my burger didn't look like this!!

My boyfriend's fat burger had a soft and not runny fried egg, cheese, tomato, lettuce and the usual sauces.  Unfortunately, the burger itself was cooked to a dry mealy, cardboard-y texture - which even all the toppers didn't disguise.

My burger fared a bit better with an unseasoned but still semi-moist patty topped with cheese, bacon, grilled onions, lettuce, tomatos, ketchup, mustard and mayo

The saltiness from my soft limp piece of bacon helped season my bland burger patty.

The fries were tasty - sort of like McDonald's in taste and texture - just a bit on the bigger side, which we washed down with unlimited pop dispensed off to the side.

Unfortunately, Fatburger still has kinks to work out as their burgers are still hit and miss... mainly miss. But we can remain optimistic like this fellow and keep on looking for that perfectly seasoned savoury moist delicious burger! And for those wanting to give it a try, there's been a few Groupon-like companies selling coupons for Fat Burger recently.
