Taking a shopping break from meandering, picking up gifts and bumming around at the Ala Moana Mall, we go in search of something to keep us going so we could shop some mores! Skipping by the yogurt shops, and distracted by a tea shop (yes, I picked up some gifts here for my family)..our eye was caught by... pretzels! A simple twist of baked and salted dough that can bring back warm and fuzzy nostalgic childhood memories. In we go!!
With a variety of sizes, along with salty and sweet incarnations... we went with a salty savoury treat - a Pretzeldog - fresh pretzel dough is rolled out and cut into a strip, then wrapped around a steamed hotdog, lightly buttered, baked and sprinkled with some sesame seeds. There was a pretzel dog languishing in the display case, but the staff were quick to make a fresh one when we asked:

a few min later... a smoking hot burn-fingers-if-you-try to-tear-off-a-piece-too-soon pretzeldog! The pretzel was super soft, with a slight crust on the outside and a hint of sweetness on the inside, sealing in all the juices of the run of the mill hotdog. Its fresh out of the oven, so it was worth the wait! If they made these with gourmet hotdogs or sausage... they'd have lineups out the door! Nom!
the VERDICT
A great little pretzelshop with salty and sweet choices to let you relive your childhood memories of great pretzels. Too bad they only have these in the US and not Canada!
